A PAIR of COVERED VASES on attached pedestals forming torches, in finely and richly chiselled and gilded bronze. The body and base are decorated with a pattern of four-leaf clovers and interlaced friezes. The pedestal is decorated with a frieze of water leaves surmounted by acanthus leaves. Naturalistic handles in coiled forms, attached by a serrated rosette. Reversible lids: one side features a fretwork design in the shape of a split seed, the other a chiselled binet design.
