Description
MONTE POT-A-OILLE in porcelain and chiselled, gilded bronze. The pot-à-oille is decorated with a polychrome floral design; the rim of the lid is adorned in the round with a putto pouring flowers from his cornucopia. The base of the pot and the rim of the lid are highlighted with a gold border. Traces of a blue mark beneath the base. The neck of the vessel is decorated with a frieze of ovals. The base is decorated with a chain motif and drapery, resting on lion’s paw feet surmounted by acanthus leaves. The handles, some of which are movable, are decorated with acanthus leaves and laurel wreaths. Late 18th century, the porcelain is probably from Meissen. (Wear to the gilding; very slight losses in the relief flowers on the lid) Height: 36 cm - Width: 42 cm - Depth: 25 cm.
