Description
RARE ‘dovecote-style’ clock in chiselled and gilded bronze. The terrace is adorned with a young woman kneeling and feeding a hen and her chicks. She is approached by Cupid, who watches her discreetly. The rectangular base, curved at the rear, is adorned with an appliqué decoration depicting facing ibexes feeding on bunches of grapes. Two satyr masks flank either side. The dial is housed in a dovecote with a thatched roof, featuring two doves in two nesting holes. The whole rests on palmette-decorated legs and is surmounted by a dove with outstretched wings. The dial is white enamelled with Arabic numerals and a railway-style minute track.
