Jean-Baptiste CARPEAUX (1827–1875), After “The Child with the Horn” Bronze cast with medal patina, signed “Carpeaux” on the base. (Some wear to the patina in the hair) Height: 30 cm. Model created in 1874. Whilst convalescing at the Dubois sanatorium in May 1874, Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux is said to have drawn inspiration from his youngest son, Louis-Victor, born in February 1874, to create this model. With a view to a posthumous edition, the artist’s family added a terrace to the work, which is visible on the model we are presenting.
