Description
A bronze and gilded metal CLOCK comprising a basket with two handles, designed to resemble wickerwork. The basket is adorned with a bouquet of flowers made of canvas and polychrome fabrics, housing the movement with a dial encircled by a wreath of roses and topped by a butterfly that moves in synchronisation with the pendulum. The dial is made of guilloché-worked steel and bears an illegible clockmaker’s signature. The clock is mounted on a rosewood veneer plinth inlaid with light-coloured wood. The whole is housed under a glass dome. Charles X period. (Cracked glass dome, veneer lifting with gaps in the plinth’s marquetry, wear to the dial, no key) Height of the clock alone: 45 cm – Total height including the glass dome: 58 cm.
