Jean-François DENIERE (1774–1866) in Paris
A finely chiselled and gilded bronze clock with a pedestal, topped by a figure in the round depicting a putto playing with a butterfly. The front is richly decorated with drapery, a ribbon bow, a mascaron, cherubs, a crown and foliage scrolls. The white enamelled dial is surrounded by a frieze of water leaves and signed ‘Denière Fab. de bronzes à Paris’. Suspended by a wire.
First third of the 19th century.
Height: 38.5 cm.
Jean-François Denière (1774–1866) was one of the most important Parisian bronze casters. He worked notably for the Imperial Garde-Meuble.
