Alphonse GIROUX, Paris A fine pair of ewers in gilded and patinated bronze, depicting a Bacchic theme. The body, in patinated bronze, is decorated with a bas-relief design in the antique style. The foot and mount are richly decorated with bunches of grapes, acanthus leaves, pearl friezes and scrolls. The handles are adorned with vine tendrils and ram’s heads, and are topped by a cherub leaning against a bird. Signed on the base ‘Alph. Giroux Paris’. Renaissance style, late 19th century.
