Complete embroidered orfroi, Spain, late 16th century, linen canvas embroidered in full stitch with spun gold thread and gold cord in couching, guipure and gaufrure, in clouded gold and polychrome silk, mainly in split stitch. Decorated with a medallion depicting the Virgin and Child Jesus, and representations of St John and St Francis of Assisi in architectural niches.
