Description
A replica of the Chinese-style tapestry commissioned by Emperor Frederick II from a workshop in the Netherlands for his brother Prince Henry’s bedroom at Sanssouci Palace, circa 1763–1768, by Tassinari & Chatel, re-woven in 1900
lampas with polychrome silk border and brocade on a yellow buttercup-coloured satin ground. Decorated with animated scenes depicting a tea service and a curious carriage party chasing a bird, oversized poppies, pavilions, a leopard devouring a deer and a canid biting a heron, the latter fighting over a dragonfly with an imaginary snake, 275 x 82 cm.
