Description
Safe, featuring the patented Bauche system, manufactured in Gueux in the Marne region, in working order, complete with key, 36 x 26 x 19 cm. Note: History: Alexandre Fichet, founder of the company, opened his first locksmith’s shop in Paris in 1825. The year 1829 marked a crucial turning point in the history of locks: the principle of pick-proofing was established with the introduction of a pick-proof pump lock (patent no. 3883, 29 March 1829). In 1840, Fichet created his first modern fireproof safe: a double-walled structure made entirely of steel and fitted with a lock operated by a ‘FICHET’ key. The company opened two further branches, in Lyon and Marseille. Henri Bauche, owner of a refractory brick factory, began manufacturing safes in 1864 in Gueux, in the Marne region. Bauche’s design was different: instead of a wooden box covered with sheet metal or iron strips, Bauche proposed a safe comprising two seamless iron boxes, bolted and riveted together, with refractory material placed between them. In 1967, Fichet and Bauche merged and transferred their operations to the factory in Bazancourt (Marne). Together, they produced safes, fireproof cabinets, security cabinets and other products.
