FRANCE. MEDALLION
a round, double-sided biscuit-style medallion, issued to commemorate the 1900 Paris World’s Fair, modelled on the award medals designed by Jules-Clément Chaplain, the obverse features a bust of Marianne, draped and wearing a headdress, with an oak tree and a view of the city of Paris in the background, the reverse marked in gold ‘Sèvres 5 February 1901’ within a cartouche; the design depicts a man carried aloft by Victory, with the Petit Palais and the Grand Palais in the background. Preserved in its original case.
