Japan, 19th century A large porcelain set with Imari enamelled decoration featuring cranes, phoenixes and birds amongst plum blossoms and chrysanthemums in a cut-out panel against a background of foliage and lotus flowers. Comprising a covered baluster-shaped vase, a handle in the shape of a fô dog playing on a rock, and a pair of cornet vases, the necks of which are decorated with two dragons searching for the sacred pearl.
