19th-century Japan, A porcelain set decorated with Imari enamelled motifs of cranes, pagodas, plum blossoms and flower-filled terraces within multi-lobed medallions; the neck is accented with broad godrons against a blue and red background. Comprising an octagonal baluster-shaped potiche with a lid, the top of which features a large pear-shaped handle repeating the motif of the body, and a pair of horn-shaped vases with lambrequin motifs on the inside of the neck. Four characters in blue on the reverse. Height: 51 and 31.5 cm
