Description
A pair of corner cabinets in veneered wood with leaf marquetry; the arbalète-style front opens via two doors. Decorated with chiselled and gilded bronze fittings. The top is in sea-green marble, with a rounded rear corner.
Marked by Jean DESFORGES, ‘D.F.’ (twice), active in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine in the 1730s–1760s.
On the back, a label from the haberdasher Bertin, “A la Toison d’Or, rue Saint-Honoré, near rue d’Orléans”, dated “In Paris, 1731”.
Louis XV period.
