Adolphe Giraudon (1849–1929) Publisher Set of 8 photographs of furniture from the Louvre Museum and the Museum of Decorative Arts Albumen prints on semi-matt paper. Marked with a dry stamp reading ‘A. Giraudon Editeur 3 rue des Beaux Arts Paris’ on almost all of them. Dimensions: 26 x 20 cm (approx.). A few stains and small tears. Included are 7 photographs by Jean DESBOUTIN. Notes: The Bibliothèque photographique Giraudon was a French photographic publishing house specialising in art, history and archaeology, founded in 1877 in Paris by Adolphe Giraudon (1849–1929). Taken over in 1912 by his son Georges (1885–1970), the collections were acquired by Librairie Larousse in 1953. In the early 20th century, the company offered more than 115,000 photographs documenting all eras, all art forms and all civilisations to a clientele of artists and scientists.
