Marcel Bernard (1914-1994)
Jean Moulin. Promenade du Peyrou, lower paths. Montpellier, winter 1939-1940.
Silver print on Agfa-Portriga-Rapid paper (c. 1940-1950), signed and dedicated in ink on the reverse by Laure Moulin (Jean Moulin's sister): "to Mr and Mrs A., ardent members of the Resistance and left-wing Gaullists, in great harmony and friendship. L. Moulin".
17.2 x 12 cm with margin at bottom
"He took advantage of his few days in the Hérault to bring his dear childhood friend Marcel Bernard from Béziers. Bernard, who had not forgotten his camera, took this fine portrait of him in the Peyrou garden, where Jean, standing against an arch of the aqueduct, is wearing a soft felt hat and a muffler, and is the very image of the Resistance fighter.
