Description
DORCHAIN (Auguste), French writer and poet (1857–1930). Autograph poem entitled ‘Reflections on Balzac’s short story, *How the Château d’Azay Was Built*’. 3 pp. 1_ in-4. He begins his poem by stating that this tale by Honoré de Balzac, which refers to ‘La Belle Impéria’, a tale forming part of the collection <<< Les Cent Contes drolatiques >>, published in Paris, is not based on historical fact, and that its author seeks to << lead us to believe too much >>, and that << his hero is nothing but an impostor >>. As he continues his poem, he points out that to win <<< even a queen’s favours », one needs greater finesse. Dorchain then transforms himself into an actor, becoming the seducer himself as he emphasises the manner and means of seduction. ‘Not, as the book says, those heavy, forceful kisses, but rather much gentler ones to choose—kisses that cannot be counted. How can one trace the path from the tips of the toes, through every spot one kisses in a voluptuous surge, right up to the hair? One would wish, with the very same caress, In a supreme intoxication, That it might be lavished at the same time over his Mistress’s entire body....’
