Europe, Switzerland, France and various other locations. Circa 1870–1900. A set of two miscellaneous photographic albums. The first album, titled ‘A. D.’, comprises over 70 prints, mostly albumen prints mounted on card. Captions appear on the front of the montages and/or images. Examples of subjects: a general view of Lucerne, Flüelen – Lake of the Four Cantons, the Mer de Glace near Chamonix, the Righi railway, Chillon Castle, the Trient Gorges, Montreux, Lake Geneva, cliffs near Jersey, the banks of the Rance near Dinan, Mont Saint-Michel, a general view of Cologne, the Rhine, Mainz, Frankfurt, Heidelberg, a waterfall in the Black Forest, a general view of Baden, Boulogne-sur-Mer, the old fort, the pier, Milan, Isolabella, etc. The prints and montages are in various conditions, including foxing and different formats; the album measures approximately 36 x 25 x 3 cm. A second album containing over 170 prints, mainly albumen prints (as well as citrate and mechanical prints), mounted on cardboard.
