In a box set containing a map of French Indochina, Ethnic Groups of French Indochina (Louis MALLERET & Georges TABOULET), a collection of around 100 photographs (phototypes and a colour ethnographic map), photographic plates numbered in Roman numerals – 1937. Captions and photographers’ names on the front of each print. Examples of subjects: villagers from the Tonkin Delta, women’s hairstyles in Tonkin, young Tao women from Lang Son, Man-Tiên women, a young woman from the White Thai group, an Annamite dancer from Xuan Pha, Cham dancers and musicians in festive dress, Muon women from Thanh Hoa and the Tonkinese province of Hoa Binh, Jarai from Pleiku (Darlac), detail of a Laotian costume, a young Thai-Neua woman, etc. Identified photographers: J.
