Alix AYMÉ (1894-1989) Market scene in Vietnam, circa 1927 Oil on canvas Signed lower right: "Alix de FAUTEREAU". 38 x 46 cm NOTE : Work probably done in Hué. A view of the Dong Ba market. The artist used a canvas support, as other market scenes from this period are on cardboard. The faces of the mother with the child and the woman in the background are particularly detailed, adding a touch of expressiveness to the usual play of flat colours and light in Alix AYME's other works in the series of market scenes. A certificate of authenticity from the Association des Amis d'Alix Aymé, mentioning the work's inclusion in the artist's catalogue, will be given to the buyer.
