NOTE :
A native of Tuttlingen, Hugo GEIßLER studied art from 1911 to 1916 at the Bern School of Art and the Stuttgart School of Applied Arts. After being demobilised from the First World War, he became a painter as well as a poet and writer of historical texts. Like the Impressionists, Hugo GEIßLER painted the landscapes around him: the Witthoh on the Hegau, the landscapes of the Heuberg and the Danube valley.
He bequeathed some of his work to the town of Tuttlingen.
The Fruchtkasten exhibition room bears his name and shares this space with the works of Nobel Prize winner Hermann Hesse.
