Léon DRIVIER (1878–1951), *The Vercors in Moonlight*, a pair of oil paintings on panel, signed and dated lower right – approx. 25 x 19 cm (visible area) (in good overall condition) COMMENT: Born in 1878 in Grenoble, Léon-Ernest DRIVIER was a French sculptor, painter and illustrator. He was a pupil of Louis-Ernest BARRIAS at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris before working in Auguste RODIN’s studio in 1907. There, he became friends with Jane POUPELET and Antoine BOURDELLE. In 1918, he created the official bust of La France Victorieuse. He was elected a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1943. (Source: Bénézit)
