Our drawing can be compared to the door reproduced in the work by P.F.L. Fontaine, Journal des monuments de Paris envoyés à l'empereur de Russie [...], Paris, 1809, pl. 40. It is specified that the door represented in the work consists of old fragments taken from the demolition of one of the pediments crowning the forecourts of the courtyard of the Louvre.
