In 1829, Fontaine was commissioned by Charles X to design a hunting rendezvous in the Bois de Vincennes. The King specified that he wanted it to be similar to the one in the Bois de Boulogne built by M. Bellanger. Fontaine tells us in his diary: "After the death of King Charles X [...], I was given, believing they belonged to me, two large frames containing drawings, plans and a map of the Bagatelle gardens by the engineer colonel M. Lapie.
I placed these two frames in the bedroom of my house on rue de la Muette, [...], the map of the gardens very accurate, as there were still margins to fill, I amused myself in the leisure of my retirement by sketching a memory of the hunting rendezvous at the enclos des Minimes in Vincennes. I made a small general view that shows the whole project, and I pasted it onto M. Lapie's plan."
