Description
An 18th-century children’s book. A curious volume comprising 64 leaves, printed on heavy rag paper, featuring 90 varied engravings, hand-coloured. Twelve pages are blank. The illustrations depict animals (cats, rats, donkeys, parrots, etc.) and figures in costume (Polichinelle, servants, a princess, etc.), some of which are printed upside down. Three sections each contain an identical sequence of 28 prints, with the first, last and central double-page spreads left blank. The whole is housed in a charming cardboard case covered with coloured engravings.
