GILDED AND PATINATED GRANDFATHER CLOCK WITH SEATED MAIDEN, FRANCE CIRCA 1860
Gilt and patinated bronze case, with plinth base richly adorned with acanthus leaves, at the top, a seated maiden attentively observing a small portrait held in one hand. The gilded bronze dial with Roman numerals and pear-shaped metal hands is set in a patinated bronze rocade. Movement with anchor escapement, hour and half-hour strike with part-wheel. Watch to be overhauled. Pendulum and winding key absent. H. 40 cm, W. 25.5 cm, D. 10 cm.
