AMZ [summary]
The work is divided into three parts, A, M and Z.
A is a grouped and stable set of 100 canvases of all different formats, left unfinished and presented in a pile or piles in the same space. These 100 canvases are models for 100 replicas. When a canvas has been chosen as a model for a replica, it must be taken from the pile and presented painted the same colour as the wall on which it is hung. A is a complete set from day one of AMZ.
M is the dispersed and unstable ensemble of the 100 replicas of A once they have all been taken over. dispersed because it is made up of canvases taken over by different people in different places. unstable because the rule for constructing the replicas m includes a variable linked to the lives of the people taking over. each replica m has a format homothetic to that of its model, but reduced as a function of two parameters: the distance separating m from A (the further away you are, the greater the reduction) and the order in which you take charge (the longer you wait, the greater the reduction). each time a painting m is moved, it has to be rebuilt. assuming that A is moved, all the paintings in M have to be rebuilt. the paintings m are painted the same colour as the wall on which they are hung.
Z is a grouped and unstable set of 100 papers whose dimensions represent the difference in surface area between each replica and its model. the format of each paper z is homothetic to that of the corresponding canvases a and m. its colour is determined by that of the wall: if the wall is white, the paper is of any colour except white, and white if the wall is not.
