Louis XV-style chest of drawers – Stamped by Adrien FLEURY (1721–1774) and COULON A step-front chest of drawers in veneered wood marquetry, opening via three drawers at the front, resting on four curved legs. Decorated with chiselled and gilded bronze fittings, including pull handles, corner finials, lock plates and footplates on the front. Stamped: Adrien FLEURY (1721–1774) and COULON. Pinkish-grey marble top. Restoration and maintenance carried out in the 20th century. Dimensions: H: 75; W: 99; D: 50 cm Adrien Fleury worked successively on Rue Traversière, Rue de Charonne and then Rue Saint-Hyacinthe, in the Faubourg Saint-Germain, before going into liquidation in 1767. The inventory drawn up on that occasion mentions pieces in marquetry and lacquer in the Chinese style; however, the few pieces of furniture bearing his mark that survive today are, for the most part, finished with plain veneers. Moreover, these consist almost exclusively of chests of drawers characteristic of the early Louis XV style.
