Emile Cohl (1857–1938)
An ink drawing depicting a battle scene with Napoleon I and his Guard in the centre, in the style of shadow theatre. On a sheet measuring 18 x 21 cm, on the reverse of an advertisement dating from around 1885–1890, bearing the ink stamp ‘Emile Cohl’ eight times, and signed ‘Karren Dache’.
Undoubtedly a humorous drawing by this pioneer of animation.
