Description
Lerebours" drawer camera, with lens n°7406 Lerebours er Secretan (Paris) and accessories, 1/4 plate format, approx. 9 x 12, circa 1845-50. As is. N.B. Jean-Marie PRADES: Noël-Marie Paymal-Lerebours, optician to the observatory and the navy, was also one of the first opticians interested in photography (...). Lerebours was very much involved in photography at all levels, since as well as making and selling equipment, he was certainly one of the first daguerreotypists to take portraits. He worked with Gaudin, to whom he supplied the optics for his cameras, and published with Susse Frères Daguerre's manual 'Historique et description des procédés du daguerréotype et du diorama' (...).
