Bertsch" automatic camera, 6 x 6, circa 1860. As is. N.B. Jean-Marie PRADES: Automatic camera. Year 1860. Designed by Adolphe Bertsch in Paris. Format 6 x 6 cm. - Adolph Bertsch 1823-1871. A founding member of the Société française de Photographie (SFP), he devoted much of his life to photography. In 1852, he perfected a collodion of superior quality to the existing English collodion. Thinner, it adhered better to the glass and gave the emulsion greater sensitivity. In 1853, he proposed a new formula, slower, but easier to use for novice photographers. A. Bertsch was first and foremost a photographer (...)
