Description
Alphonse Darlot cheeked stereoscopic camera, 9 x 18, with burgundy bellows and viewfinder, circa 1885. As is. N.B. Jean-Marie PRADES : Stereo camera with cheeks. Format 9 x 18 cm. Sector shutter. Instantaneous exposure and three speeds. The support plate for the shutter-lens assembly has two lateral positions on the cheeks and two off-centre positions at the top, plus a focus function for distant and close-up views of 3 m and 5 m. For this last function, the shutter is held on this plate by a spring which allows this assembly (carrying the lenses) to move away and therefore modify the distance of the subject from the focal plane. On either side of the shutter, two wedges, which may look like handles, slide between the shutter and its plate to modify this distance. Two positions are engraved on these shims, 3 m and 5 m.
