Description
Jonte" Paris wooden stereoscopic camera, 8 x 18, with A. Prazmorwski Paris lenses and shutter release, circa 1887. Prazmorwski Paris lenses and shutter release, circa 1887. As is. N.B. Jean-Marie PRADES: Jonte Stereo Camera. Format 8 x 18 cm. Two lenses by A. Prazmowski (1, rue Bonaparte Paris). Revolver diaphragm. Londe and Dessoudeix shutter. Albert Londe is well known for his medical photographs taken in Professor Charcot's laboratory at the Salpétrière hospital. He used chronophotography to study both physical and pathological movements, such as epileptic seizures, repeated yawning and hysteria. He designed several cameras for his work and looked into the design of shutters. To do this, he teamed up with Charles Dessoudeix. Together, they designed a number of shutters, including the one in this stereo chamber, which shows Charles Dessoudeix's training as a watchmaker. The lenses are mounted on separate boards so that their spacing can be adjusted. Behind each is an independent shutter. The springs of these shutters can only be triggered by a bulb to ensure simultaneous operation. No manual release is possible, except for the application of a pose.
