A substantial mantelpiece in sea-green marble, richly decorated with gilded bronze, comprising a clock and a pair of cassolettes resting on flattened ball-shaped bronze feet. The dial is marked ‘Eug Flocon, Algiers, Oran, Tunis and Paris’, surmounted by a basin and flanked by gilded bronze groups depicting the horses of Marly after Coustou. The rectangular, stepped plinth is adorned with a bronze frieze depicting Apollo’s chariot. The ovoid-shaped cassolettes have handles in the shape of lion’s paws. The bases are decorated with bronze plaques in bas-relief. Clock: 57 x 63 x 17 cm. Cassolettes: 48 cm
