Description

André ARBUS (1903–1969), A modernist-style pedestal table in wood and wood veneer, with a circular top and a slightly arched cross-shaped base Circa 1930. Height: 59 cm Diameter: 80 cm Note: This side table forms part of a set commissioned from André ARBUS (1903–1969) by the industrialist Mr Pierre BÉNET for his townhouse in Albi, situated at 10 Rue d’Engueysse, Albi. The artist had designed the drawing room and study of the townhouse. Of this set, a collection of furniture remains, including a writing desk on which the carvings were executed in the block by Vadim Androusov. Our pedestal table is a unique piece by André Arbus; despite the absence of a maker’s mark, it has never appeared on the market.
