‘Martel de Janville’
A design created for the interior of the Geoffroy Martel sanatorium in Janville and produced around 1936 by the Ateliers Jean Prouvé.
The set comprises a suspended desk and a chair made of red-lacquered sheet steel.
The desk, with two side drawers, features a stained oak top and compartments for storing documents.
The chair has a slatted backrest and curved rear legs.

Note:
In the 1930s, Jean Prouvé and Jules Leleu collaborated on the design of sanatoriums, notably the one at Martel de Janville on the Plateau d’Assy.
Leleu designed the interiors, whilst the Ateliers Prouvé produced a large proportion of the furniture.
Made from bent and lacquered steel, wood and fabric, these pieces combine functionality, hygiene, lightness and economical use of materials.
