Jean PROUVÉ (1901–1984) & Jules LELEU (1883–1961) ‘Martel de Janville’ Model designed for the interior fit-out of the Geoffroy Martel sanatorium in Janville and produced around 1936 by the Ateliers Jean Prouvé. Height-adjustable tripod writing desk with a tilting mechanism, made from red-lacquered tubular metal and featuring stained oak shelves. Height: 83.5 cm (min). Width: 91 cm. Depth: 40 cm. Leleu designed the interiors, whilst the Ateliers Prouvé produced much of the furniture. Made from bent and lacquered steel, wood and fabric, these pieces combine functionality, hygiene, lightness and economy of materials.
