Ossip ZADKINE (1890–1967) Study for ‘The Embraced Couple’. Drawing in Indian ink on bistre paper. Monogrammed in the bottom right-hand corner. Height: 27 cm Width: 17 cm (visible area). Provenance: - Paris, collection of David GIESEMAN (1951–2011) – Set designer for Juliet MAN RAY and designer for Baccarat. Purchased from Galerie A Tempera at the Louvre des Antiquaires in Paris. Notes: The couple is a sculpture created in 1966, of which six bronze casts were produced in 1969. Our drawing is one of the designs for the creation of this work.
