Description
Frédéric SICHEL-DULONG (born 1947) under the supervision of Valentine SCHLEGEL (1925–2021), Untitled Free-form terracotta sculpture. Signed “Frédéric SICHEL-DULONG” on the reverse, dated December 1964 and numbered “III”. Height: 13.5 cm Comparable work: A work similar to ours, dated September 1964 and signed by Valentine Schlegel, appeared in the Rémy Le Fur auction, Estates of Yvonne Brunhammer and Valentine Schlegel, 30 June 2022, lot 190. Note: Frédéric Sichel-Dulong was Valentine Schlegel’s pupil and later her assistant. From 1959 onwards, he collaborated on the creation of her plaster ‘sculptural fireplaces’, of which nearly a hundred were produced together until the early 2000s. From 1975 onwards, some works bore their joint signatures. The early work we are presenting today was produced in Valentine Schlegel’s studio and possibly under her supervision.
