Engraved with the inscription 'RINALDO DELLA LVNA SVE - ETATIS - ANNO XXVII OPVS MINI.NE. MCCCCLXI' around the base.

The original marble bust of Rinaldo della Luna at the age of 27 was made by Mino da Fiesole in Florence in 1461. The della Luna family was renowned for its literati and humanists in Florence during the Renaissance.
Mino da Fiesole (or Mino di Giovanni) (c. 1429 - 1484) was a Tuscan sculptor specialising in marble. Influenced by Desiderio da Settignano and Antonio Rosselino, he is best known for his portrait busts.
