A rare oval porcelain dish from the Compagnie des Indes, 19th century. Brazilian Imperial House. Baron of Paqueta. Formerly owned by the Baron of Paqueta, José Tomás da Silva Quintanilha, who died in Rio de Janeiro in 1878; from the family of the Marquis of Olinda White ground decorated with a rural landscape in a central panel, surrounded by arabesques and floral garlands in rich polychrome enamels 26.8 x 20 cm Beautiful polychrome decoration; slight wear to the design; traces of an earlier restoration over a 4 cm section of the wing Reproduced on pp. 199–200 of the book *The East India Companies and Chinese Order Porcelain* by José Roberto Teixeira Leite
