Giambattista PIRANESI (1720–1778). View of the Temple known as the Temple of Concord. 1774. Etching and engraving. Sheet: H. 535 mm x W. 735 mm. Hind 109. A fine print on heavy Italian laid paper, from the first state (of 3), prior to the numbering; the positioning marks for the lettering are still visible in the cartouche (indicating that this is one of the earliest proofs printed). Water stains and scattered foxing. An oblique tear in the centre of the lower margin, extending slightly into the subject. Another tear in the centre of the upper margin, previously restored using a paper patch. Good margins, slightly reduced. Roman print run. Expert: Hélène Bonafous-Murat.
