Description
A set comprising two notebooks and a purse, circa 1830. The notebooks are in red morocco leather with gold filigree, one decorated with a vase of flowers bordered by a frieze of ivy, the other with a bouquet of flowers painted under glass; the second is complete with its stylus. The teardrop-shaped gusseted purse is decorated with the painted inscription ‘Donné par l’amitié’ set within a twisted brass latticework incorporating small plaques of enamel painted in lapis blue. Dimensions: approx. 9 x 6, 10 x 7 cm and 8 x 7 cm Minor signs of wear on the first notebook.
