Description
BARGIMI, Chad A standing fertility doll with powerfully stylised geometric forms, the head crowned with a flat headdress. Wood with an aged brown patina. Signs of wear and age. Height: 32 cm Length: 13 cm Note: Bagirmi dolls are a relatively rare form of sculpture from Chad. Their highly stylised form transforms the female body into a structure of geometric volumes. Associated with fertility, they were often given as dolls to young girls.
