Description
JAPAN – Edo period (1603–1868) Wakizashi. Simple kashira in patinated copper. Fushi in chiselled, patinated, silver-plated and gilded copper depicting a bird on a cherry branch (slight wear). Wooden tsuka covered with stingray skin and black silk cord. Menuki in chiselled, patinated and gilded copper depicting flowers. Mokko-gata tsuba, signed, in wrought iron, chiselled and inlaid, depicting a lakeside landscape. Wooden saya with black lacquer applied after the blade was forged, and a simple copper habaki. Straight blade, tang pierced three times, unsigned, with oxidation on the blade and a touch of rust at the tip. Height: 68 cm Length: 7 cm Width: 6 cm Blade length including tang: 57 cm.
