Complete Samurai Armour
‘Kabuto’ comprising thirty-two wrought-iron plates. ‘Thehen no Ana’ (opening at the top) in gilded copper with three tiers. “Shikoro” (neck guard) in black-lacquered iron with blue and orange silk braiding. The side flaps are in black-lacquered wrought iron. “Maedate” in openwork metal, engraved with the emblem of the Oda clan.
Samurai half-mask, known as a ‘Mempo’, made of wrought iron, with a pronounced chin, a movable nose, pierced nostrils, and a red-lacquered interior. Three-tiered throat guard in black-lacquered iron and blue silk.
“Sode” (shoulder guards) with four tiers, made of black-lacquered metal and blue, white and orange silk.
Three-lamellar breastplate made of black-lacquered iron and blue silk braiding.
Arm guards, “kote”, made of chainmail and iron plates.
Skirt, “kusazuri”, and thigh guards, “haidate”, with five rows, made of black-lacquered metal and blue silk.
Leg guards, “suneate”, made of iron plates, chainmail, blue silk, white cotton and gilded leather.
