Lawyer’s briefcase or document holder in red morocco leather, featuring various compartments and decorated with gold filigree edging and fleurs-de-lis in the spandrels. Dated ‘1818’ and bearing the inscription ‘M. DÉGRANGE – lawyer in Bordeaux’ Restoration period. Height: 34 cm Width: 48 cm In a used condition; the key is missing. Note: Pierre Desgranges-Touzin was a lawyer from Bordeaux who became Advocate General at the Court of Bordeaux during the July Monarchy. Active at the bar from the early 19th century, he was also associated with Bordeaux’s scholarly circles.
