Important MÉCHED AMOGLI carpet (Persia), late 19th century, early 20th century
Dimensions: 515 x 340 cm.
Technical specifications: Wool pile on a cotton backing.
An anthracite-coloured field features a lush botanical design, ‘reminiscent of a mosaic’. Twining branches, floral rosettes, cruciform flowers, leaves and small blossoms form this intricate ‘botanical carpet’. Six polychrome outer borders frame the main fuchsia border, all seven featuring multicoloured floral garlands. A rug of the highest calibre.
