Two Empire period brown-patinated and gilt-bronze figures The male and female figures are depicted facing each other; they are dressed in draped tunics and are seated on fluted square-sectioned half-columns. The rectangular plinth has rounded sides decorated with medusa heads, palmettes and a frieze of water leaves. Small feet.(the laurel wreaths are missing) 20cm wide, 10cm deep, 30cm high (8 1/2 max. in wide, 4 1/2 max. in deep, 12 1/2 max. in high) Two pieces of the same design but with a white marble base: Sotheby's, 4 June 2020, lot 219.
