Description
Manufacture nationale de Sèvres, based on a design by Jean-René DEBARRE (1907–1968). Sèvres porcelain vase, white glazed, in the ‘Fontaine No. 2’ form, with a tubular body featuring a polychrome decoration of a Mexican woman seated beside a basket of foliage and a palm tree, a cylindrical base and a slightly conical, flared neck adorned with gilded bands. Bears the inscription ‘Sèvres Manufacture Nationale France’, the signature ‘B.R. after Jean Debarre’ and the identification number 4733 PN on the underside of the base. Date letter “h”, 1935. Height: 27.5 cm – Width: 14 cm. A vase in the ‘Ruhlmann No. 1’ form bearing the same decoration is held at the Mobilier National under inventory number GML 5741. Lot from a voluntary sale.
